I am listening to “My Hero” and am fascinated with the spiritual beauty shared by a number of our own heroes, heroes of our time. “My Hero” is a highly inspiring book. Remarkable source of strength and inspiration…
Fascinating how the universe unfolds before us. Before leaving the office this evening I was sharing with Julie, a valued friend, how this eagerness to encourage sensitivity and compassion to my 10 year old daughter is ever-increasing with each passing day. As if witnessing Sade’s complete awakening to the value of compassion and sensitivity is a desire I cannot contain. It is my responsibility to honor my child by encouraging love for others and their struggles.
-It was a sacred 15 minute exchange of beliefs around the circle of the world’s greatest asset: our children.
I get in the car. There was about 5 seconds of the final words on Stan O’Neal’s testimonial and there it was….the universe brings me the story of Raffi Cavoukian: singer, author, founder of Child Honoring.
As if the universe’s message at that moment was one of reassurance that teaching our children compassion and sensitivity IS honoring them. In wonder and bewilderment I thank the Universe.
In honor of Sade and each 10 year old child in the world, I gift you the words on the song Raffi Cavoukian created in honor of his own hero, Nelson Mandela. May these words inspire you to turn this world around and boldly keep on honoring our children, always!
We heard it from Mandela, turn this world around
for the children – turn this world around
He’s done it once before, and now we hear his call
for the children – turn this world around
Turn turn turn, turn this world around – for the children
Turn this world around
The dreams of our young ones born into this world
Need respect and love to come alive
Honouring the children is what we’re here to do
Now is the hour and we’ve got the power to
If every nations’ leaders put their children first
Care and provide for every child
Each and every household could sing a song of joy
All round this planet, a new light within it could bridge
And the children sing: help our light to shine
May we all be fed, may we all be loved
May the elders here open up their hearts
To this song of ours, may they do their part
May our dreams unfold, may we find our place
In a healthy world, embracing every race
May we all be free, may we live in peace
Hear the children sing, hear us sing
Turn turn turn, turn this world around
for the children – turn this world around…
